Mrs. Christina Shook was born in Penns Valley, Centre county, Pa., February 10th, 1808, and died at the residence of her son, Elder David Shook, in Toby township, Clarion Co., Pa., March 5th, 1891, aged 83 years and 23 days. Her maiden name was Granoble. She was married to Abraham Shook December 10, 1826, who preceded her to the eternal world twenty-three years ago. She came with her husband to Redbank township, Clarion (then Armstrong) county, Pa., in 1833, where she remained until her death. After the death of her husband she made her home with her son, who lives on the "Old Homestead," about four miles south of Curllsville, and there after her long life she fell peacefully asleep, to awaken in her new home above. Mrs. Shook was the mother of ten children, two of whom died in childhood, two after they were grown up and had families of their own, and six are still living. She had fifty-two grandchildren, of whom thirty-two are living, and fifty-four great-grandchildren of whom forty-two are living. Six grandsons served as pall bearers on the occasion of her burial.
